Accessible Gathering at the BAÜN Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Experimental Farm
In a programme organised as part of Disability Awareness Week in collaboration between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Centre for Animal Husbandry Research and Application, and the Accessible University Coordination Unit at Balıkesir University (BAÜN), BAÜN students enjoyed an unforgettable experience spending time with the animals reared at the centre. The event, which highlighted the importance of a love for animals and interaction with nature, provided participants with a day that was both educational and emotionally enriching.
The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Şükrü Metin Pancarcı, Director of the Animal Husbandry Application and Research Centre, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murad Gürses, the Coordinator of the Accessible University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demet Gönen Ocaktan, the Assistant Coordinators Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tülay Çivici and Dr. Figen Altıner, as well as academic staff and students.
During the event, students had the opportunity to pet and feed the horses, collect eggs in the chicken coop, and interact directly with newborn lambs, experiencing first-hand the joy of bonding with animals.
As part of the programme, Prof. Dr. Şükrü Metin Pancarcı, Director of the Animal Husbandry Application and Research Centre, provided participants with information about the animals reared at the centre, their care processes and animal welfare.
