The International Balkan Agriculture Congress was held at Balıkesir University.
The International Balkan Agriculture Congress was held under the auspices of Balıkesir University, within the framework of the Universities Union. The opening programme of the congress was attended by Balıkesir University Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Cevdet Avcıkurt, Prof. Dr. Murat Doğdubay, Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Evren Karayel Gökkaya, BAÜN Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Ziya İlhan, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Agriculture Dean Prof. Dr. Anıl Çay, Lapseki MYO Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Engin Gür, academics, municipalities, professional organisations and participants from the sector.
The opening speeches of the congress were delivered by Congress President Prof. Dr. Şükrü Metin Pancarcı, Vice Rector of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and representative of the Trakya Universities Union Prof. Dr. Evren Karayel Gökkaya, and Vice Rector of Balıkesir University and representative of the Trakya Universities Union Prof. Dr. Murat Doğdubay, who expressed their wishes for a successful and productive congress. The opening speeches also emphasised that the Balkan region has historically been an important centre for agriculture and animal husbandry, while also highlighting the importance of scientific cooperation between universities.
At the conference, scientific papers were presented covering a wide range of research topics, from beekeeping to silkworm breeding, from plant production to animal production, and from veterinary sciences to food science and food engineering. The conference also featured promotional stands where cooperatives and various businesses showcased their products.
Throughout the event, sessions were held to strengthen academic cooperation in the fields of agriculture, food and the environment among universities in the Balkan region.
